With a good base ready, the UX team defined the shell for the new environment to be built into:
Defined information architecture
Visual theme & style
With global components defined, it was now time to start moving individual modules to the new shell. UX Experts identified a set of features that could work independently, that could migrate to the new infrastructure.
The UX team used their understanding from the initial discovery exercises and drafted a set of interactive wireframes that reimagined the selected workflows and turned them into interactive wireframes. These variations were tested among real users to determine their efficiency. The UX team collected feedback from these tests and enhanced the wireframes for a better experience.
Meanwhile, the UI team examined the components and interactions that were used in these wireframes and built a design system that allowed the developers to reuse components. This reduced development load and ensured UI consistency across the new platforms.
Feature by feature the UX team drafted wireframes and validated before the UI teams could build the interactions into the new environment.
Once a set of modules were built into the new environment, they were released to a selected clients to test the system in a real-world scenario. A few adjustments were made to the system based on the feedback received from the real clients.
In about 8 months, the complete system was migrated and rolled out to new and existing customers. The old system was finally put to rest.
8 months and 12,000 man hours later…
